Pouches and flexible packaging use is increasing across industries - from food to pharmaceutical - thanks to their convenience, durability, and sustainability. A key component driving this growth is the use of encapsulation films, which enhance both performance and protection.

Most pouches incorporate one or more barrier layers to protect contents from moisture, oxygen, and other environmental factors. These layers are typically shielded by a durable polyester (PET) film, which provides:

Excellent moisture and oxygen resistance
Rigidity for structural integrity
Protection during shipping and handling
Child-resistant and anti-tampering properties

This makes polyester-laminated pouches ideal for packaging food, medical supplies, and other sensitive products. In the U.S. alone, pouch packaging generates over $900 million in annual sales, with projected growth rates reaching up to 30% annually.

D&K’s copolymer adhesive laminating films are reverse-printable using digital toners including Xeikon print technology. Several D&K encapsulation films have been qualified for Xeikon’s FleXflow 2.0 Pouch Production process.

Additionally, many D&K films and adhesives meet FDA guidelines for direct or indirect food contact, ensuring safety and compliance for food-grade applications.

Extrusion coating, gravure coating, and converting facilities are conveniently located in the Midwest United States. D&K manufacturing facilities are also ISO 9001:2015 certified.
